By stacking and fusing old used skate decks from the Nike SB team, haroshi modeled this masterpiece from a pair of his own worn Dunks, staying true to even the smallest details of the shoe’s form. When we first caught that sneak peek of Mark Parker holding the haroshi Dunk last week, it seemed reasonable enough to think that Nike had created a new collaboration shoe imitating the style of the artist’s sculpture work. Thanks to some new pics and info from Hypebeast, it’s now clear that these are an amazing piece of sculpture art, crafted so intricately, that from a distance, it looks like a fully wearable shoe. haroshi’s attention to detail is staggering. Keep reading for a better look and understanding of how the piece was created and be sure to check out the way the the stacked skate deck noses perfectly mimic the curve of the Dunk’s toe.
If you have any cash left after the sneaker cornucopia that will be this year’s Black Friday, one of the more ‘personality’-filled Nike SB releases of the year will touch down in December. The Nike SB Dunk Low Premium ‘Yellow Curb’ features a few design elements that are taken from legendary Dunk Low SB releases and a couple that are new to the series. On the familiar side of things, you get Elephant print on the toebox and rear quarter sections, but they’re unique in the tonal application, plus a macro version appearing on the midsole. Embroidery on the lateral heels will evoke images of Jeff Staple’s ‘Pigeon’ Dunk SB, but we’ve never seen a pair with a clear Swoosh underlay like the one that appears on this pair. A great mix of old and new details makes for a totally new result and you can grab yours next month after you click the jump below to have a better look at the Yellow Curb Dunks.
So many sneakerheads loved Paul Rodriguez’ second Nike SB signature sneaker that even when his third (and now fourth) sig hit retail, SB dropped a reworked version of the P-Rod II. The latest Nike Dunk Low Day of the Dead is pictured above in perhaps the single most successful high-contrast colorway of all time, a two-toned mix reverentially referred to as ‘Bred’. Crafted in black suede with a black sole, these joints add Varsity Red on the leather Swooshes, sockliner and foxing band, which makes for the most aggressive look yet from this vulcanized lifestyle-friendly lowtop.
