Now popular with skaters, basketball players, and the fashionable alike, the first ever production of the Nike Dunks shoe was in 1985. The Nike Dunk, which later influenced the Jordan I, was the team basketball shoe of choice. It was available in high and low versions in a variety of team colorways to match an uniform, and it came with a matching box and two sets of different color laces. The original Dunk is a highly sought-after collectors item and due to consumer demand, the Nike Dunk line was reissued in 1998 and numerous colorways have been made available on a regular basis since then. Technologically, the Nike SB Dunk High Heel Blue Black Silver line of shoes has the most basic of technologies, but its simplicity and wide variety of colors leaves this line of 80’s retro basketball shoes compatible with many styles and make them perfect for casual wear.
The Nike Dunk High can do no wrong. It’s classic construction is hard to deny no matter what colors get applied. This time the palette is a bit toned down but the overall design still shines through. The sneakers upper features two forms of Black leather including tumbled and soft. These two create a sort of textural effect that makes its statement well. The shoe also has a Gum sole which sweetens any deal and to round things out on the technology tip the shoes feature Zoom Air cushioning.
Nike’s Quickstrike releases for 2011 are well underway. The next one to be made available is paying special tribute to America’s altruistic roots. The Nike SB Dunk High “Statue of Liberty” is crafted of a leather that very much resembles the washed Green hue of the statue itself. With a tongue and laces that both are a bit lighter than the rest of the upper these kinda look like they are glowing just a bit. They indeed are not but they definitely will catch the eye of any one in sight. The tongue is topped off with a silhouette of the statue and a White midsole finishes things off.
