The latest version of the WNS Nike Dunk High is a rather recent addition to the common Nike Shox Shoes stable

These Nike SB Shoes were launched under the ‘College Colors’ program by Nike where each team was designated a footwear of the colour matching with their uniforms. As a result distinctive care was made to change the shoe in a way such that it helps increase the basketball game performance, specially during pivoting and blocking. Though, very soon these dunks became more of a sub social icon. It prompted fashion, culture and art to a very great level every time it was launched. Dunks soon became a favourite amongst skater because of the low profile sole, high steadiness and improved grounding performance. And hence Nike also came up with dunks especially for skaters called the Nike Dunk SB.

The latest version of the WNS Nike Dunk High is a rather recent addition to the common Nike Shox Shoes stable, joining the likes of the Nike Dunk SB, the Dunk SB Mid and the SB Mid Premium; as the rather fresh entrants to the ‘Just do it’ Dunks family. In the shorter duration of time that I have had the chance to use the WNS Nike High, I have become diligently enchanted with it.

For starters, as everybody who obtains to see the shoes will aver, the footwear is unreservedly flashy – what with the clever employment of extremely contrasting colour schemes and all ‘symbol-work’ created on the shoe’s surface? It is potentially for the reason that it is unreservedly flashy that the Nike Dunk High has discovered such extensive appeal among basketball players and skaters, both being categories of people who are known for not dreading to stand out, whether on or off their individual playing fields. It is also for the same showy display of creativity that the earlier editions of the WNS Nike Dunk High have harvested to become something of famous collectors goods; so that people have truly been known to purchase the shoe, not for its value as a sneaker to wear, but purposely for its aesthetic value as a ‘displayable’ piece of artwork for their collection.

The Nike color schemes, as one comes to understand upon closer observation, are not random choices. Indeed, they are based on the color schemes of well-known American basketball teams, so that whatever your preferred American basketball team, there is bound to be a set of WNS Nike Dunk integrating their team colour scheme, and maybe their ‘symbol-work’ in case they have any. Naturally, then, the Nike Dunk SB comes out finest when worn with the matching teams’ ‘uniform’ – to complete the set.

In my certain pair of the WNS Nike High, the color scheme utilized is the white and red – all the way from the bottom of the sneaker to its top. This red-white contrast, mixed with the extensive ‘symbol-work’ depicted on the trainer make for a quite noticeable display, one that can make you way too tough, if not impossible, to ‘just ignore’ when wearing it.

The signature Nike Dunk High Strawberry Shortcake on the WNS Nike Dunk high, as with most fresh Nike items, starts on a red patch (at least in my pair’s case) somewhere towards the center of the footwear, and gets elongated to the back of the shoe and all the way to the alternative side of the shoe. The colour scheme employed in the WNS Nike Dunk High conceals the sheer thickness of the shoe’s sole, which when viewed in its wholeness, is quite a thicker sole.
